Our History

The history of 1st Fairfield Park Scout Group is fairly short, as we were established on the 3rd February 2014. We attracted so many young people from the Park we started the Group with 50 Beavers and Cubs with 12 adult leaders (6 Male and 6 Female) supported by a strong Executive Committee. Our Executive Chairman, John Turner has been with the Group from the beginning and has created a strong leadership team who have supported events and fundraisers. Our main base is the Fairfield Community Hall, next to the School on Kipling Crescent, Stotfold, Hertfordshire, (postcode SG5 4GY should you need it!)

In 2014 we had significant support and guidance from the District and County level to set the Group up and it feels right to give them a shout out here…. Thanks to Dave Bridges, Jan Brooker, Bill Mapletoft, Gerry Pope and Neil Ludlow. We are genuinely thankful for their support and guidance, without which we wouldn’t have gotten off the ground.

Our current Group Scout Leader Andrew Harris joined the Group in August 2017, and from then we have gone from strength to strength. In March 2020 we were awarded the Fastest Growing Scout Group in Bedfordshire. Hopefully more awards to follow!
